NICHOLAS G. CUMMINGS
Attorney
Nick Cummings grew up in Sioux Falls South Dakota. After turning eighteen he enlisted in the South Dakota Air National Guard. In 2002 he transferred to the Colorado National Guard to attend the University of Northern Colorado where he studied political science and history. While attending Northern Colorado, Nick was a member of the rugby team. He was a starter on the squad that won the 2005 Division II national championship and was the national runner-up in 2006. In 2006 Nick was accepted into Gonzaga School of Law on a merit scholarship.
After graduation from Gonzaga, Nick took and passed the Colorado bar examination in 2009. In January of 2010 he moved to the island of Kauai. While at Kauai, Nick clerked for the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney for the Kauai County government. While there Nick assisted with their civil forfeiture division. In April 2010 Nick accepted a job with the 8th Judicial District as a deputy district attorney in Fort Collins, Colorado. For seven and a half years Nick conducted and completed jury trials from petty trespass to murder in the first degree.
In 2017 Nick left the district attorney’s office and formed a partnership with Joseph J. Petrone. Nick and Joe hope to offer their years of public service to individuals in the Northern Colorado community. In his spare time Nick enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. Their love is camping and they hope to visit all of the 53 National Parks by the time his children graduate high school.
JOSEPH J. PETRONE
Attorney
Joe was born in Wyoming, but spent much of his childhood in southeast Asia where he graduated from Jakarta International School in Indonesia. He moved to Fort Collins to attend Colorado State University. After graduating, he moved back to his home state for law school where he graduated from the University of Wyoming College of Law. Joe was the Director of the Defender Aid Program in law school and defended indigent clients throughout the state, practicing both trial and appellate cases and even arguing before the Wyoming Supreme Court.
Joe has extensive knowledge in the area of criminal law and has personally handled cases involving all levels of traffic, misdemeanor, and felony charges. He knows the importance of having a skilled trial attorney help you navigate the legal process. His experience as a prosecutor and familiarity with the law enforcement agencies in Northern Colorado give him unique insight when negotiating cases. Often times, cases can be settled favorably without having to go through a trial, but Joe is well equipped to take a case to trial in order to achieve the best results for his clients.
In his spare time, Joe enjoys spending time with his family, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, a good book, and like all Colorado residents, anything outdoors.
